Ok SEPTA is really starting to get scary......they are adding Regional Rail AND trolley serivce for an event. The SEPTA of old would have never done this...maybe an extra train, but additional Route 101 service...never. They keep this up we may see additioanl service after midnight on Red Arrow on New Year's Eve. Additional Rail service for the "Race for the Cure" Event To improve service for riders bound for the "Race for the Cure," SEPTA will be providing additional service on May 11, 2008. An extra inbound train, departing Elwyn at 6:22 AM and arriving at Suburban Station at 6:57 AM will be available on the Media/Elwyn (R3). Regional rail trains will also add cars to all of its trains to provide a more comfortable ride to the Race. The Route 101 Trolley will be adding an extra round trip that departs 69th Street Terminal at 5:25 AM and arrives at Orange Street at 5:47 AM, then departing Orange Street at 5:55 AM and arriving at 69th Street Terminal at 6:22 AM. Finally, to better serve our customers, additional crews will be assigned to Regional Rail trains. |

BESIDES THE FACT THAT THE NEW GM MAY BE THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO SEPTA SINCE GAMBACHINI THIS GM IS SERIOUS ABOUT CHANGE AND THE ONE THING HE HAS THAT THE REST DID NOT IS DEDICATED FUNDING AND BECAUSE SEPTA IS NOT IN THE BUSINESS OF MAKING A PROFIT THEY HAVE TO SPEND IT IN ORDER TO GET OVER AND ABOVE THE NEXT YEAR OR AT LEAST MAINTAIN. VICTORY IS A SUBURBAN BEAST THAT COULD USE A LOT MORE EXTRA SERVICE AND UNDER THIS GM WILL MOST LIKELY GET IT. |

I agree with the Victory thing. I would like to see more additional service from out that district even on the 101/102 Trolley's, and bus routes and im sure the ppl of Del. County would like to see that also

First of all, please don't post in all caps. It's not particularly polite and it's also hard to read. Secondly, SEPTA has in recent years added extra service on the R6 Norristown for the Manayunk bike race and also extended night service on some RRD lines for New Year's Eve and 4th of July. |

Yes they have added extra RR service in the past for events. I was referring to the fact that they were adding additional suburban service other than RR service, in this case the 101. In the city they will add transit service for events (i.e. Thanksgiving and Mummers parade) but very rarely do you see transit servie added in the suburbs. Is the Media area expected to have high attendance at the race? I only say that because they only added service from the Media area (R3 and 101). The R2 from Marcus Hook starts even later than that and there was no addition from there. Maybe it because the new GM lives in the Media area. |
