These buses are long gone, however: 8413 & 8717 were retrofitted with the destination signage boards similar to those on the Neo DK, EB,EI & EZ models.

1982 Neo AK suburban 8413(January 19, 1983-manufactured date- may have been a Victory bus early on) had the destination signage similar on those of our now retired Neo EZs(tall font).

Why was 8413 retrofitted with a destination sign that was similar to the ones on the Neo DK, EB,EI & EZ fleet?

Anyone remember 8413? Was this destination signage salvaged from Neo EB 3134 or EZ 3467?(both buses were involved in fires while assigned to Allegheny, 3134 may have caught a bad break at Callowhill, Callowhill was the original home of 3134).

8413 was indeed a speed demon. Smooth oeprator. Stopped on a dime as well.

Another place where 5251, 7101 & 4526 could eventually meet up at:

Willow Grove Park Mall(if the R2 Warminster line is down & they use shuttle buses, 7101 would be drafted in for the shuttle, 5251 on 55 & 4526 on 98.

or:

Cheltenham & Ogontz(5251 Midvale routes, pullouts/pullins, 7101:6, 4501- Breeze(at times, Breeze operators take some strange routes back to the depot).
I remember 8413 from when I was a daily rider of the Route 93 in the 1988-1996 time period. AFAIK, 8413 was involved in a serious accident along US 422 while deadheading back from Pottstown to Frontier sometime around 1990 or so. I recall that veteran Frontier operator, Bob Neal, told me that the bus had ended up on its side in the wreck. Not sure where the retrofitted sign came from, but I don't think it came from 3467 because at that time 3467 would have been a brand new bus & assigned to Frontier.

The other thing I remember about 8413 was it was rebuilt with a front bulkhead painted black-like the DK & later Neoplans-but at that time all the other AK Neoplans had white bulkheads.

8413, like it's brethren in the Neo AK class, were delivered with the white bulkhead in the front interior, blue numbering, the "old school signage" which was :

No eating or drinking on this vehicle & No smoking, violators could face a fine of $300.00, 10 days in jail, or both.

At Frontier, 8419 & 8432 were retired with the white blukheads in the front. 8432 received an exterior paint job in 1996 months before it's retirement. 8419 wasn't ever repainted on the outside or overhauled. I think 8421 & 8431 went into retirement untouched.

When did the 8411-8434 get their overhauls & bulkheads replaced?

I remember riding the 1985 Neo CD transits(8726-8755) at Germantown on the H, XH, or 18(S) routes, as well as the L.

8738, 8741, 8751, 8752 & 8754 retained their white bulkheads until Germantown depot ceased bus district operations in May 1993.

DIdn't the 8601-8725 & 8756-8788 groups have white bulkheads in the beginning?

I don't think the 8800s had them. As for the 8435-8584 group, did these buses have white bulkheads in the beginning?

8435-8725 & a handful of Neo CDs appear as if they had their bulkheads repainted into the black in the 1986 timeframe.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Not bad...but some are incorrect:
4555=Frontier
5555=Midvale (I saw it on the 18 once)
But you got all the others right

Since 7101 was moved, there have been changes, but there are two places where 7101 and 4526 can still be found today; do you know where they are?
