Suburban Link Trolley Will Be Replaced By Septa Bus

by KYW's Michelle Durham

Change is coming for travelers who use the Suburban Link, the shuttle that runs between Collegeville and Upper Merion Township. The Suburban Link is going to be discontinued on September 8th.

Septa will be taking over the service area on August 31st and will replace the shuttle with its Route 99 bus. The bus will make all of the same stops as the Suburban Link, along with stops at a number of local businesses and shopping centers.

"All in all, it really pays dividends to the rider," says Septa spokesperson Gary Fairfaix. "They'll have greater mid-day service on weekdays and more trips, as well, so it will be a great advantage to our riders."

Some local officials also view the change as a positive step.

Updated Route 99 schedules will be available by the end of this month and will be posted on Septa's web site.

It's only partly correct. There's new 99 service between the office parks on PA 29 but not to Collegeville proper.

You'll also have to transfer for service to the Gulph Mills area offices! The 99 will be interesting to ride past King of Prussia.

A thought:

What if they retained the 99 as is, re-extended the 98 to oaks(or extend the 131) & have the route cover the suburban link.
