Fall Schedules for Routes 10, 11, 13, 15, 34, & 36 are now posted on SEPTA's website. There are several noticable changes:

1. The route 11 now has 5 minute frequency during the AM & PM peaks (used to be 6 minutes)

2. The route 34 now has 3 minute frequency during the AM Peak only (used to be 4 minutes) while it has retained its 4 minute frequency during the PM peak.

3. The Route 13 has restarted its use of the Mt. Moriah Loop during the AM & PM Peaks

4. The Route 36 has restarted its use of the Elmwood Ave. Loop (right next to the depot) during the AM & PM Peaks.

As a daily rider of the 36 i see this as a good move because most trips on the 36 during the AM Peak are already crowded by the time you get to 65th-Elmwood. And when this happens, the operator will pass as many stops by as possible. As for the afternoon trips, same situation. With students coming from Pepper Middle School, Motivation High School, as well as Com. Tech High School, These trolleys are packed before they make the turn onto Elmwood Ave. With runs now starting at 73rd-Elmwood, they can better serve riders along Elmwood Ave, as well as students from Bartram High School and Tilden Middle School.

Southern 8100, I can relate to the ridership patterns on the 36. SEPTA did something that made since for once.

Back in 1980, no one could even picture a substantial ridership base on the 36 west of Island Avenue below Elmwood(80th Street). Back in 1980, the Eastwick portion of the line was frequented by riders but not like it is today.

I am surprised.

Yeah, ridership on the Island Ave. portion of the 36 have defintely picked up in recent years. There used to be a time where you could catch the 36 at 73rd-Elmwood and the trolley would be empty. Even during the off peak hours, the 36 carries a good number of passengers on Island Ave. Before the construction of Penrose Plaza, I believe that most runs on the 36 ended at Island & Elmwood. There were scheduled trips down to Eastwick, but they were during the peak hrs. only.

I remember reading about SEPTA possibly extending the 36 down to the Eastwick Rail Station. This station is already served by the R1, as well as routes 37, 68, 108, & 305.
Is there any truth to this?

I Believe the 36 extension was/is one of those proposals that are always put into the annual financial reports. Grain-of-Salt it as much as possible.

A lot of that would have to do with the major development along the Island Av corridor south of Elmwood. One of the major developments in that area would have to be the postal facility on Lindbergh Blvd just east of Island.

It's so cool, I haven't seen anything like it in my life... but I wish they would make the schedule covers reflect the route, like the TT schedules!
