When route 202 was around, it basically followed U.S. Route 202 from West Chester down to Wilmington Station.

Yeah - I think it made all local stops actually.

I believe it was run by some private contractor (don't remember which one) using some Neo EI Suburbans (3361 or 3362?).

Krapf Coaches ran the service for SEPTA using 40ft. Neoplans that were assigned to the Red Arrow Divison at time.

Route 202 was the last stand of the old Duncan fareboxes on SEPTA. The Neoplans assigned to the line by SEPTA/Krapf's were the last in the system to use them, as Krapf's did not have the equipment at the time to service the newer GFI fareboxes. These buses also bore markings on the lower bodysides with Krapf's name as the operator.

IIRC, the 202 was a local all-stops operation as far south as the junction of US 202 & I-95. At that point, the route jumped on I-95 for a couple exits & then headed to Rodney Square before terminating at the Wilmington Amtrak Station. (Joe B., can you assist with the exact routing?)

I distinctly remember that a few savvy senior citizens at Concord Mall would jump on the 202 to ride to downtown Wilmington for the reason that they could ride for free on that line (& not on DART's Route 2)-even though their ride was wholly within Delaware.

Route 202 is also the answer to a trivia question...it was the only SEPTA transit (not Regional Rail) route systemwide not to be affected by either the TWU strike or UTU lockout in 1998, as it was the only SEPTA privatized contract operation route then in service. Fox 29 ran a news report on this fact at the time.
