We should change the title to GOOD HEAT in Trackless coaches,.. 814 serving 75-2102 has 76 degrees ambient today. New Flyer is making a concerned effort to check every coach in the morning, and the heat reliability ratio has ridden from 91% to 96%. So contrary to "amgkid874's" post, things are getting better. Stop with the negativity, put a little hope in people's minds. Chuck Greene |

Ok, now my statement is this. Chuck, when you take those temperatures, it is during the day time, when the sun is outside. So, maybe it is warm to you. What about when the late on the 75 (2115 block) and the late on the 59 (2015 block) come out and it's already dark. Radational cooling is in effect, thus the air gets cold. With the poor heat, on those coaches, its feels cold to the passengers. Also, let set this straight as well. If you're in the US Army and stationed in Alaska for 11 months, and constantly go on vacation to Canada, I figure that you wouldn't get or be as cold as someone whose always in the city, right? |

Even though that memo is posted, a lot of operators are saying that they refuse to do that when they get off of work. I don't blame them. If they fix the door st the vault lane, and fix the wries in the vault lanes as well as the front apron, then, they wouldn't have to epu to the TT yard. SEPTA needs to stop doing everything half assed...adn stop aming people do so much hard work. Route 59-2015 had to EPU all night on Tuesday night in the snowstorm, because the "wire crew" were fixing things. There was no power from Bells Corner to Hellerman street. Control Center had the nerve to ask the operator to go outside and put the poles up at Hellerman. They wanted her to continuosly put her poles either up or down at Hellerman Street because there was no power. Yeah, like she was really going to do that......They got a nerve. If there is no power, give them a bus. The power was back on around 6.30 Wednesday morning. |

Re: Trackless heat I have taken temperature readings on cloudy days, and they are still tolerable. I have never ridden at night so I can't tell you how they feel then. What's fine for one person, is too cold for another, that will never be solved to anyone's satisfaction. In other news, they are not buying any more ETB's. That was a rumor about additional units to come soon. They have 38 coaches, and they need 34 for the load lines. Only having 4 spares is a big mistake. The union is not happy about what SEPTA intends to do with the pension plan for new hires. Without getting into details, all I can say is this a strike issue. The current contract ends March 15th. Well during the wintertime everyone's immune system adjusts at the same time, and everyone has their own bias what considered to be too cold or too hot. Thus arguing over this will be pointless. Fact - Any bus that starts up in the winter, its ambient temperature will be extremely cold down to 30-40 degrees if not lower. I think what Chuck was talking about is once the heat get going. The temperature inside the coach would be roughly 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Well remember these buses came in during the summer and more then likely were never used in weather like before... There is an acceptable period where parts have to be either added or removed, or adjusted. This is called the break in period. Hopefully next year these coaches will perform better overall. |

809 has fairly good heat today. All TT coachess were parked inside in #2 bay, because of the inclement weather. Normally the AMDT radio calls out the stops. If the radio is rebooting, or messed up, the operator is supposed to call out the stops manually. I guess you don't have enough to do piloting the coach through heavy traffic, collecting fares, etc. Inspectors have been on board , observing these things. You never know when the secret rider is aboard. Chuck Greene |
