I guess #800 has been ""5401ized" to similar specifications as its production units. |

They used to just EPU up Frankford IIRC. I remember the other night a driver dropped his poles as he was turning onto Pratt (?) Street (by the 5 stand). All TTs EPU on that section, so they might as well do it the entire way, especially if the wire is in such bad shape. |

The deal now is to use electric as far as possible, so the wires should allow that as far as possible. |

So this also means keeping the poles on the wire while the Trackless in in the yard resting? http://www.philadelphiatransitvehicles.info/multimedia/displayimage-lastup-0-1.html Tritransit Area's Photo Edited by Tritransit Area, Jan 8 2009, 11:22 AM.

And if truck drivers wouldn't keep trying to run their overheight vehicles under the El on that section and keep scraping up the wire once a week, it would still be in as good shape as it was back in 2000. |

The new ruling is to keep the poles up on the yard wires all night. This makes the coach "warm"on the inside for the morning pull-outs. Chuck |

Just heard from my contact at SEPTA. The TT coaches are still having poor heat problems. NEW FLYER still hasn't fixed this yet. Dress appropriately. Chuck Greene |

The trackless poor heat problem is getting some attention. New Flyer is blaming Thermo-King for the HVAC problems. A tech is adjusting all the TT coach thermostats to 72 degrees. Thermo-King is a big manufacturer of HVAC units, we use to use them on our Tractor Trailers. Chuck Greene |

Rte. 75-2102 has 835 today. The heat is pretty good. Maybe they found a way to fix them. I'm going in to town tomorrow, I'll report on what I see. |

I just got news that #800 is in service. So now we need pictures. There is a stuck J bus, 5531 at Arrott, it lost all air pressure. Here's the problem, the J bus, 89 bus, and 59 Trackless are all using the 75 Trackless stand. One of the 59 drivers , blew the switch, leaving on the 75 side, and his poles got caught up in the wires, hopefully it will be fixed soon, it's a mess down there. The driver of the 59 was so used to just going straight. Chuck Greene |
