I just got news that #800 is in service. So now we need pictures.
There is a stuck J bus, 5531 at Arrott, it lost all air pressure.
Here's the problem, the J bus, 89 bus, and 59 Trackless are all using the 75 Trackless stand. One of the 59 drivers , blew the switch, leaving on the 75 side, and his poles got caught up in the wires, hopefully it will be fixed soon, it's a mess down there. The driver of the 59 was so used to just going straight.

I saw 800 in the Frankford yard a few days back, but it was too far in for me to get a photo.

I was told that all the trackless coaches were stored in Frankford #5 bay last night, because of the snow and ice/freezing rain problems outside. The coaches need extra care, LOL!
That means some buses sat outside.

I don't remember when but there was a time when all of the TT coaches were not in service, I wonder if this is in any way related to the AC problems?

Frankford's #1 driver has Coach 809, very poor body heat. That's 59-2001.
The employee bathroom at Arrott has no heat, some drivers will not use it and are going upstairs to the EL cashier's booth restroom. The pipes may freeze in the Arrott restroom, that would be a huge problem, they have the problem called it in.

The DoNuts Queen eatery on Oxford Ave. finally has some heat on inside, they normally have no heat , but I think they got worried about the pipes.

The Arrott employee restroom heat was repaired as of 10:30 AM today
(01-14-09). I'm glad to see SEPTA was right on the job.

Coach 829 has good heat today.

There was a little "oopsie" today with that coach. Crossing Broad St. Westbound at approx. 10:34 AM, a big bang was heard overhead. the poles stayed on the wires but the lightening bolt "fail" light came on. The operator pulled over safely and recycled the coach, it seems to be OK now.
It was probably a transient fault, it will be reported to the shop.

Very good heat in four different coaches today. 818 had it's thermostat adjusted to 60 degrees, but the coach was 73 to 75 inside,. The Lower floor Heat Fin discharge temperature was 88 degrees.
Coach 827 was exceptionally warm, heat fin discharge temp was 103 degrees.

Coach 818 had a low air pressure alert warning. Our skilled operator engaged the EPU , left the poles on the wires, and it charged back up.

The trackless that leads 75-2102 went out of service this morning. His pole got caught in the wire at Wayne Junction. It was fixed and he took the coach in, he returned in service later and was seen southbound on 5th St. around 10:22 AM, kind of a strange route.

I have it on good authority that in the near future, SEPTA wants 8 to 12 more Trackless for Frankford to help out the runs and provide expanded service. So stay tuned for 83* and up.

Here's a picture of a trackless that got"lost" today

SEPTA is checking the heat in Trackless before it goes out, it's getting better.

On Route 75 , there is a tricky splicer , as you pull out Westbound to cross Broad st.
Numerous operators have had this same thing happen, the poles jump and you get a Red FAIL light on the dash. Then you have to hold the neutral button in for 5 seconds to clear it. Your poles never leave the wire, but it's causing this fail light to come on. The solution right now is to go slowly across Broad St.

When it gets warmer out, they(SEPTA), should rebuild that splicer.

Route 75-2102 went out with coach 809 this morning(01-21-09).
The heat is very poor. The tech adjusted it at the start and said it would be all right. It is terrible. The operator is calling it in for a swap. They are short on Trackless.
Maybe he'll get a bus?

SEPTA still can't get parts for the Trackless. There are coaches running around with missing/bad parts. There are only (2 )trackless mechanics for a fleet of (38) coaches.
It's getting worse every day. SEPTA has a diesel bus mentality and now with the new hybrid fleet, even more so. The trackless may turn out to be a bad investment.

I sure hope not, I like them.

821 seems to have better heat today.

Two detours on the 75 this morning , 01/22/09.
Arrott & Large ,westbound, disabled school bus, pull poles and EPU.
20th & Courtland , vehicle with broken axle facing wrong way on street. Pull poles and EPU.

Because of these detours, people are late, and missing their connections, the operators are taking all the grief.
