SEPTA still can't get parts for the Trackless. There are coaches running around with missing/bad parts. There are only (2 )trackless mechanics for a fleet of (38) coaches.
It's getting worse every day. SEPTA has a diesel bus mentality and now with the new hybrid fleet, even more so. The trackless may turn out to be a bad investment.

I sure hope not, I like them.

WAIT - how in the world can they not get parts for these coaches? Aren't they build to almost the same specs as Vancouver's, save for the auxilary engine? Are Vancouver's vehicles this cold as well, or do they have a different HVAC system?

I'm not sure about the differences in the two HVAC systems.
What troubles me me is the inability of SEPTA to get parts, like you say, what's the big deal?
The trackless order is a disgrace. New Flyer is looking very bad on this.

Maybe SEPTA should have gotten New Flyer, NABI or Nova Hybrids instead of these E40LFR's... they are too bugged

821 seems to have better heat today.

Three detours on the 75 this morning , 01/22/09.
Arrott & Large ,westbound, disabled school bus, pull poles and EPU.
20th & Courtland , vehicle with broken axle facing wrong way on street. Pull poles and EPU.

And a fire at Wayne Junction.

Because of these detours, people are late, and missing their connections, the operators are taking all the grief.

Everything has been cleared up as of 11:30 AM.

FYI, there are only 3 night time supervisors to cover the entire SEPTA system. The day supervisors go home after day's work.

I know several trackless operator's that are of the same opinion. It's going to take years to get the bugs out of these things, and more faults will show up,more than a bus.

Unfortunately, we are stuck with the Trackless, at least 13-15 years, if not more.

815 had good heat today.

I rode 5589 in from West Chester today. We were so far ahead of schedule , the driver pulled over, and killed some time on the hill up to Providence Road. We continued on but after cresting the hill, traffic was backed up. There was a bad car accident at the Edgmont Shopping center,so we ended up being 3 minutes late at 69th St., which isn't bad for that run. The Newtown Square Corporate Campus bus skip-stopped with us the rest of the way in.

Here's a bad photo of the car accident.

As an a side, the 66 terminal stand switch , when you pull in off of Frankford Ave., has been fixed. You can use the straight wires, on your right side, or the bypass wire, to your left. Previously, it was locked on the bypass wire.

Has Vancouver experienced any of the problems that SEPTA has had with their large trackless trolley New Flyer fleet?

From what I hear from the other transit forums, Vancouver is having a lot better luck with theirs.
I'll assume that the heat works better, too.
