SEPTA does not hang new trolley/ trackless trolley overhead wire in the winter or summer.
There is a problem with the expansion/contraction rate of the wire, and it will not hang correctly.

So if this Wayne Junction Route 75 project doesn't get started soon, we will have to wait until this fall, like late September.

The city and SEPTA are working together on getting Greene St. reversed. They were out there making sketches today of the new wiring. So my best guess is this thing will be done in the next month or so.

SEPTA Public Relations is heavily involved with this changeover.

We will wait and see...

BIG NEWS!!!

Greene St. is reversed. The trackless has to go on the new routing but the rewiring has not been done yet. So as of Noon today, they are EPU'ing the new Route in the train station area.
Drop poles at Germantown Ave, stay on Windrim, park & layover at the train station. Resume with eastbound trip,EPU on Windrim, left on Wayne, left on Roberts, left on Greene, right on Windrim and re-pole. There was a little ceremony celebrating the Greene St. reversal and the new layover spot for the 75.

Now is a good time to get out there and get some rare photos of the 75 on EPU in the new direction. They may do the rewiring faster than we think.

The overhead wire department is at Windrim and Germantown installing pole de-wirement devices so in case an operator forgets to drop his/her poles, they will de-pole for him/her. This Wayne Junction loop reversal is the biggest project SEPTA or PTC has ever had to do to the trackless wiring. All the stuff that's up there now is from the original installation dates in the 1940's? That's all three Northeast routes.

So figure on one to two weeks to change the wires and the coaches will be on EPU all this time.

59-2001 lost her poles and the ropes are tangled at the 59/75 split switch at Arrrott. Somebody is on the way to help her, supervisor's are hard to find this early in the AM.
So everybody is loading up on the 75 side for a while.

I rode the 75 with Reeko today. here's photos of the new Wayne Junction routing, albeit on diesel EPU.

The wire crew has painted red stripes on the street to guide them in placing the new wires.
