It looks like the end of the line for the 121. Notices are posted in the shelters on Market St and Friday will be its last day.

Yes I believe as part of the 2008 Service Plan the 44 and 52 are each both to replace portions of the 121. I haven't seen new schedules or notice on website though.

Apparently new schedules will be going into effect on Sunday 2/8. From what I recall the 52 was to be taking over most of the 121's territory north of City Ave. Not sure if this will result in increased frequency.

As strange as it sounds, 121 had a loyal following in the 23rd/Vine area, where it was the closest transit to a group of senior citizens (even though this is only in one direction). Not sure how long ago it was, but there were a handful of 121 trips that made the east/south run only starting in this area on Saturdays in reaction to complaints from these riders.

I suppose that the 52 will be taken off of City Avenue & riders will, once again, have to depend on the 44 to connect with the 52.

The frequency will probably be every hour, no weekend or holiday service into Gladwynne.

Well, at least the buses won't make a lot of noise
:P

Yes, route 52 and 44 service will be just as limited as the 121 service. In fact, the 52 and 44 trips to Gladwyne appear to interline with each other.

There is a system map at Olney TC which lists the R8 - Newtown, but it still doesn't change the fact that service is officially gone.

Technically that is true, but i also noticed that some buses display 121 5th-Market or 121 Gladwyne as well :o I don't know, i think that discontinuing the 121 was kinda failed

I think SEPTA would had been better off keeping the 121 around, but instead of considering it as a completely different route on their statements. They should considering it as part of the 44 which it was. By doing that, the costs will mix into the 44 and operations will still remain the same with buses displaying "121". This will prevent any type of confusion from people who daily rides the 52 and the 44.
