I mean I can't believe this has happened once again and I swear to myself I would never go to Broad and Olney ever again since when I use to go up to Abington my parents would be worried sick about me everytime I would go there and I'm lucky I wasn't even there when it happened. I do have friends who are cops with the Philadelphia Police including one who I used to work for at the Roxborough YMCA before he left to join the force.
Don't avoid B&O just because somebody was shot there. The one guy was beat up on the BSL. Are you going to avoid that? Another guy was beat up and died near the MFL platform last year. Are you going to avoid that, too? I never liked subways, so I wouldn't ride them to begin with, even if they were super safe

And if someone would avoid a a subway because somebody got "beat up" there, sorry but your totally nuts. I know friends who live all the way down in south philly and take a bus.

I never liked subways, so I wouldn't ride them to begin with, even if they were super safe Why is that? Well back in the 1960s, during a video segment about combining both the RDG and PRR trackage in City. They were asking a few people how they felt about subways. Well most of them who has never ridden on the subway before said it was very unsafe and dirty. Well times has changed as well as the culture, its amazing people still feel that way. Statically, I would think its safer riding the Subway various riding the bus. You have to think people often get rob at bus stops and whatnot. Whereas at the stations, there is usually a high police present there. Not to mention to fact you have to pay your fare in order to get onto the platform.
If someone has a score to settle it will likely be in the streets.

Forget safety, if a subway is to break down underground, you are screwed!!!! or even an Elevated subway, although that is more noticable I am not afraid of being un-safe all the time, I just can't afford delays... like that one time on the EL, something happened up there and i had to walk(very far) to get to an uncrowded bus stop so that i can get to school that day....

Well the chances for a bus to break down is more likely versus the subway. If you were on a bus that goes on the expressway and it breaks down, you will be screwed even more. BTW, if the subway were to break down there are emergency exits in the subway which leads into the streets or into buildings.
No one can afford delays, but delays does occur no matter what mode of transportation it concerns. Whether its weather related or equipment troubles.

Wow, I'd hate to see your reaction when the batteries in your TV remote die...

These incidents will not stop me from being at Broad and Olney, they'll only make me more cautious.

Also i know about the exits in the subway, but that isn't the problem When/if a train breaks down, service usually continues on the other track. Therefore resulting in single track service in that area.

I have way more tolerance for the Market Frankford line in the tunnel through Central Philadelphia & West Philadelphia(underground, from 2nd to 45th Streets, portal, 46th Street stop is above ground) & the surface car subway(underground from 13th & Juniper to 40th & Woodland) than I do for the Broad Street Line. However, in any case, it is possible that someone can go in the tunnels & try to blow everything up.
Is Philadelphia on a code orange for the threat(s) of terrorists?
