Was there a difference between the transit and suberban Neos?
The difference can be be only determined from the inside.....

In my opinion, the Neos with the suburban cushioned seats always felt so much cooler during the summer & much warmer during the winter, especially with the suburban 8800s that were assigned to Frontier division.

I could actually breathe fresh air on those buses.

Ride on, 8851-8875 in bus heaven.

I remember sliding around in the suburban Neo seats! Did that once on the 18 on a rainy day, was embarrassing sliding into people! :D RIP all Neo's.

I hated the transit style seats I slid in those with or without rain and to make matters worse I was not able to reach up and look out the windows. Of course this is when I was younger. The suburban seats were always torn up and patched with blue duct tape.

I just had a dream last Saturday night, I was watching TV and there is two Neoplan AN-440 Ak 8275 and 8411, One Neoplan AN-440 GNC, One GMC RTS 8283 and 12 of Neoplan An-440 CD series, after the buses stop at the front of my home there is a young man hoping on the bus and 15 of them are gone  . I miss those Suburban and Transit seats because I grow up of those Neoplans series :(

Heh, it was a rite of passage for me when I was able to easily look up over the bottom edge of the window when I was little. That and being able to reach up for that cord at the top of the window!

Those transit style seats were comfy (on the later Neos) because they had that tiny bit of padding that made it just right. They were MUCH better than the stainless steel stuff we got on the NABIs, artics, and Allison series New Flyers (outside of most of the hybrids).

Man, I miss those buses...almost 8 months since the last time I rode one... :(

I always liked the 3000-3485 set, but the 8285-8699 series door controls were on the right side which I thought was more convienent!

8285-8875 had the door control buttons on the right hand side by the fare box. In total, SEPTA received 650 Neoplans between the first quarter of 1983 through the spring of 1985 that had this feature.
