It's interesting how Allegheny isn't wasting any time putting their hybrids on the road on weekends (today, I saw 8287 working the 27 at Plymouth Meeting Mall). Same with Midvale (saw a few on the C-Geary and at least one on the 23 from a distance). Yet, Comly doesn't seem to use them on weekends - all I saw on the Comly runs at Bridge-Pratt were 5400s, 5500s, Snakes on the 14, and an occasional Brick (5101 and 5105 were the lowest numbers that I saw). Are they being that overprotective of their hybrids? |

Comly started running hybrids on weekends a while back but they seemed to have abruptly stopped about 2 weeks ago for some odd reason. |

I don't see Mivale running their hybrids in North Philly on Sundays. And since I saw Allegheny's hybrids running the 65, Callowhill's side has been running mostly 5400s, no hybrids |

http://www.flickr.com/photos/96968652@N00/3443640960/ Turns out SEPTA isnt first to get the old style with low profile roof caps. St Catherines Transit did the same thing. But they waited until 2008 to start getting LFRs. MBTA, CTA, SEPTA, and KC Metro will continue with old styles until they are no longer manufactured. And that may hurt MBTA, CTA, and KC Metro but SEPTA already has 38 E40LFRs so that probably will not hurt SEPTA all that bad. |

BTW, KC Metro doesn't have NFI's. I was there in April for the Motor Bus Society Convention, and I saw nary a NFI on any of the properties we visited...we did see some TDH4512's, as well as the last RTS built by GM, as well as KC's Gillig BRT buses(they're in this area in Pottstown and BARTA). Much of KC's current bus fleet is Gillig, and from what I saw and heard, KC Metro is quite happy with its Gilligs. Also BTW, saw 8312 in service on the 27 on Friday...has anybody been up on Musgrave Street behind G'town Depot? In addition, one thing that I've noticed with the 8200's going into service at Midvale: somebody at SEPTA may be an old railfan. I say that because I'm discovering that in my research on Philly's transit history, quite a few trolleys in the 8200 subgroup of 1923 Peter Witts were assigned to Luzerne Depot, for which Midvale was the later operational successor. Maybe I'm getting a Dennis Linsky moment, but I thought i should bring that up. |

I still have yet to see a 'brid on the 26 say FRANKFORD TRANSPORTATIOON CENTER VIA FRANKFORD AVE. All Midvale hybrids I've seen bound for FTC went via Torresdale. |

I just got back from Portland (OR) and TriMet has 40 of the NF's with the new-style front. I had heard previously that it was going to stick with the old style but then changed its mind. |

http://www.cptdb.ca/index.php?showtopic=9355&hl= A member from Minnesota posted this. 8327 has been built and photographed. I think SEPTA went with the 20-per-year. Edited by Trainwizard, Aug 15 2009, 05:56 PM.
