I wish these buses had more power then the old fleet. Shouldnt that be the TAs goal for newer buses? Baltimores goal is to make them more powerful then the rest of the fleet. |

They pepped the 2008 units up and the diesel kicks in more often, but I'm not quite sure the torque motors are quite up to par. Ridden on many units which "seemed" fast with the diesel revving, but bus isn't accelerating as fast as it should - even on medium settings. Many of the 2008 hybrids presently assigned to Victory, frontier, Callowhill, and Comly has these settings. It does do a great job at lower speeds but once the bus hits 20-mph the acceleration rapidly drops off. While the oldest units (5602H) it has pretty good acceleration indefinitely. It seems they installed this regulating program onto several of the older hybrids as well. For example, 5608H accelerates slowly down the hills yet on in-climbs, it's diesel kicks in extremely fast. But still not as torquey as it once was! |

Alot of hybrid buses seem to sound like diesel buses. But the ISL hybrid sounds different then the ISL Diesel. But the ISB hybrid sounds alot like the ISB diesel. So it could be due to the diesel engine kicking in. |

The ISL hybrids (the older ones) Does NOT sound any different then the straight diesels. The EPA 07 ISL the ones which we have those sound different, why because they have a different kind of exhaust system. If you were to take the exhaust etc away from the engine and listen to the raw sound they should sound very identical. |

All of Septa Hybrids are DE41LFs & DE40LFs. Diesel & Electric so when I'm on Southern Hybrids the Diesel don't kick in till like 30 mph or higher for me. |

Well being it as it may, the hybrids are way faster now. This is indeed SEPTA we're talking about here, so anything is possible. Every other TA would have never thought to slow their hybrids down in the first place. |
