sadly, i'm hoping that NOVAbus will make a hybrid artic.. because if they don't, then New Flyer will win this again... and if that happens we'll more than likely have DE60LF's running around

I suspect New Flyer will win this bid. And most likely since the LF has not been discontinued SEPTA will more likely get the DE60LF. SEPTA wants to be an all New Flyer TA. And as long as New Flyer still manufacturers old style end caps thats all SEPTA will be purchasing. And since 71017255 are not yet 12 years old the next new Articulated bus delivery will more likely be an add on to the articulated fleet. And hopefully more new Articulated buses will arrive as early as 2012 to replace the Neoplan AN460s. Plus I think when SEPTA retires the AN460s they should send at least 10-20 of them to Ocean City MD since at some point Bmore MTAs 97 NABI 436s will no longer be drivable and who knows whether or not MTA will start lending DE60LFRs to OC in the summer. I do hope SEPTA gets the DE60LFR for their next Articulated order. MBTA of Boston continued purchasing the old style New Flyer after the LFR was invented in 2006. And they are getting 25 DE60LFRs based off of ABQ Rides DE60LFRs. So hopefully SEPTA will get DE60LFRs and not DE60LFs or any other manufacturer. Edited by Nabi60SFW9620, Aug 24 2009, 06:25 AM.

Sir, it already began. Once this hybrid order ends, every SEPTA 40 foot bus will be a New Flyer product. |

Of course, and I'm thinking that New Flyer will manufactured a modified New Flyer DE60LF for SEPTA since SEPTA wanted A/C on the rooftop. I'm guessing that all A/C will be on the roof with the trailer unit equipped with a smaller size A/C to accommodate with the battery pack there also. And/Or, New Flyer can extend the length of the bus to fit this modification. |

Let's not forget about the Eldorados buses that remains in the small bus fleet category. By the time for that replacement, they're likely to withdrawn from service begining 2013 and replacement is needed at that time. I'm guessing that SEPTA will be having an all hybrid fleet with the addition of New Flyer DE35LF(R), and the retirement of all New Flyer D40LF by 2017 |

http://www.chicagobus.org/photo/4006-3 From looking at this pic. This is a New Flyer DE60LF with a rear HVAC. The interesting thing is. That this DE60LF has a ventless rear HVAC door. So my guess is SEPTA will get the rear HVACs on their New Flyer DE60LFs with the same ventless cover as this coach in the pic has. |

The only future non-New Flyer bus purchase will be the 30 foot El Dorado replacements. New Flyer does not make center door 30 foot buses. The smallest center door vehicle they make is a 35 foot bus.
