Im suspecting New Flyers will be the next Articulated buses for SEPTA. And more likely the old style. SEPTA doesnt like upgrades all that much. The fare system can use an upgrade. And a few other things can be upgraded that knowing SEPTA will not be upgraded. But some upgrades may occur in the future. I didnt think the ceiling walls on the 09 DE40LFs would be gray. I was expecting the same white ceiling walls as the 2008 DE40LFs have but with LED interior lights. I wonder what new feature the 2010 DE40LFs will have.

From the latest sources all 400-480 DE40LFs are the old style and not the restyled. Im hoping a feature such as high back driver seats. But I got suspicion it wont happen. There are also possibilities of the large LED tail lights. Single glass door pieces. Floor color. I doubt will be different then the gray. I doubt openable windows will be on SEPTA buses. And probably not any thing along the lines of yellow standing posts. But we have to wait and see what happens when the 2010 order arrives. I wouldnt expect SEPTA to purchase any LFRs until at least 2012 and thats if New Flyer discontinues the old style before 2011. |

At some point, SEPTA has to start going with the LFR's after the current hybrid order is complete. I seriously doubt that New Flyer will continue to maintain the old style after the contract given the brew-ha-ha over NYC Transit's botched high floor artic order, which, IIRC, was never completed. It was pretty much over the same issue of customized building (at the time of NYCTA's last artic order, the D60HF had pretty much been discontinued). |

That is true. New Flyer will eventually discontinue the LF and any contract after the discontinuation of the LF will have to be the LFR, Xcelsior, or LFA BRT. But the LFA BRT cant fit in all transit bases. |

I read this in another article where the MTA is looking at wi-fi for commuter rail. I just wanted to post this so that we can understand what SEPTA likely is doing. Perhaps they are checking out what technologies exist with various manufacturers so that they can appropriately spec' a decent articulated lwo floor hybrid bus. |
