So I went today to New Castle. This city is a transit fans dream. They have:

Orion 1's with 6v92
Gillig Phantom 30ft and 40ft with 6v92
Gillig Phantom 30ft with DD50
Gillig Phantom 40ft with Cummins ISL
Gillig Advantage with ISL/Voith

I rode there an Advantage and back a 6v92 powered Phantom. Videos/photos up later! :D
Orion I's? Wow. I wonder if those are ex-BARTA or ex-Erie buses.

New Castle sounds like an interesting system. I can't wait to see the results of your trip.

I am going back on Friday, want to ride and record the Orion 1's and the 30ft. Phantoms. For now all I recorded where the Advantage, 6v92 Phantom, and an ISL Phantom.

New Schedules effective 4/4 are out. The light rail lines become color coded and new bus routes are added. More changes occur in June and September, including the new artics arriving for the Rapid routes:

Finally the city is getting serious about rapid transit between downtown and Oakland. Besides the new Rapid Bus routes (with New Flyer artics ;)) that will begin operating later this year, light rail could be coming in the future:

What's in Oakland that's so incredibly amazing that everything needs to go there now?

Also other universities like Carnegie Mellon, and also Oakland right now for business has an extremely low vacancy rate, so this part of the city is very hot right now. Buses between Oakland and downtown are always (mostly) packed, especially in the afternoon rush hour. A fast lightrail route downtown would be amazing.

See here for more.

So New Castle County Transit buys used buses? I didnt recall them having Orion Is until I saw a pic of one. And now reading that they own ex Foothill Gillig Phantoms from 91. Plus New Castle isnt the only TA in PA to own ex Foothill Gilligs. Krapf owns at least 1 of them built in 94 and Rabbit Transit owns 1 built in 96. BTW. Whats the interior like on the ex Foothill 91 Gilligs? I know Rabbits ex Foothill Gillig has high back passenger seats.
