I cant wait until I can visit Pittsburgh. Im planning to come up this summer for a weekend. Come up Friday. Leave out Sunday. Possibly park and ride to get downtown so I dont have to pay for parking. I did once read Pittsburgh has a small town atmosphere but I dont know if that applies for parking or not but I suspect parking in downtown Pittsburgh will be expensive along with many major cities and traffic. Possibly a nightmare. So Im gonna park and ride to go downtown. |

So basically New Castle Counties 91 Gillig looks like Rabbit Transits 314 inside. The only differences more likely are the upper side wall design as well as the engine/transmission. 314 has a DDC Series 50 engine and I believe an Allison B400R Transmission. Same powertrain as DARTs Gilligs. And thankfully. Rabbit Transit did NOT buy 314 from DART. It would bring back memories from DART but DARTs were in horrible condition due to no mid life overhaul. |

So New Castle County Transit buys used buses? I didnt recall them having Orion Is until I saw a pic of one. And now reading that they own ex Foothill Gillig Phantoms from 91. Plus New Castle isnt the only TA in PA to own ex Foothill Gilligs. Krapf owns at least 1 of them built in 94 and Rabbit Transit owns 1 built in 96. BTW. Whats the interior like on the ex Foothill 91 Gilligs? I know Rabbits ex Foothill Gillig has high back passenger seats.[/quote]The Krap(f)s Gilligs that were ex-Foothill buses are actually 1996, even though they are now numbered 9410 and 9411. |

I thought Foothills 96 Gilligs had fully glass front doors? The suburbans possibly did but apparently not the locals. And to get back on subject. I am intending on making a weekend trip to Pittsburgh sometime in mid June. More likely Ill drive there from home one Friday and come back the following Sunday. And I may squeeze in downtown Pittsburgh that Saturday. I dont know about that Friday. But I doubt I will go to downtown Pittsburgh that Sunday since I usually leave out early on the day Im going home from out of town. But sometimes I think I should take a Thursday and Friday off and go Thursday then come back Sunday. And if the trip turns out good I may make it something annual. Or even Semi Annual. |

5 days away from the first of the Port Authority's big changes. Buses stops already have the new routes on them, I've seen stops with the new 75 Ellsworth and G2 West Busway already. And the G2 sticker on the sign has "G2" written in green like on the schedules. Plus I have another video of buses and the T, but I am waiting until Sunday to upload it so I can catch the 1:20pm Pennsylvanian as it leaves the Pittsburgh area and include video of it alongside the East Busway.

Out of Pittsburgh in 11 days and back to Philly to the end of August. Haven't done much riding/photos/videos due to studying for final papers/tests, but will be doing some next week before I leave. |
