Port Authority Gillig Advantage #5231 has received a Cummins ISL engine, and one of the strange shaped tail pipes. This bus was originally delivered with a DD50/Allison B400R combo. When it go's back in service I will find and record it. This is a one of a kind bus in the PAT fleet.

Oh wow! I wonder if it will sound like SEPTA's 5600s. Perhaps it's a repower for the entire DD50 fleet....I don't think the engines were that great in those particular Gilligs. |

No idea where 5231 is, been searching for it but it might still be in whatever garage it is at. Also, the Nova's have LOUD air starters. One cut off a couple days ago and starting back up it was very loud. Wish I had recorded it. Also two new hybrids have come, 5721 and 5722. Both are in service and still painted green like the 2009's. And now the T is programed to say the color of the line and the destination. |

I might not get a video/ride of 5231 before I come home. I leave for Philly on Aug 3rd, then am back to Pitt later in the month for the fall. 5231 has been hiding very well because I cannot find it. I have been downtown during rush hour multiple days and have not found it. But I have found out that the 3100 Neo's (DD60) have air starters (heard one when the engine cut off at Wilkinsburg Busway station). |

I wonder what the reason for 5231 having the ISL is. Either a demo for if they decide to retrofit ISLs on older Gilligs. Or the engine could have ceased and no longer works. Which did happen to Baltimore MTAs 0032s original Cummins M11 engine. Which is why 0032 now has CAT C9. So I wonder if PATs 5231s DDC Series 50 ceased. |

Those later DD50s were horrible. I don't remember many good things about that engine in those Gillig LFs. Maybe they are getting repowered soon, and its a demo!
