I got another question about Pittsburgh. Is the West End Overlook at the Dead end of Dumas Street? I was looking up the West End overlook park and while I am there I would like to view Pittsburgh from the West End Overlook once during the day and once at night. And is there parking for the West End overlook?

The West End Overlook is right here, and there is parking.

Thx Jayayess.

As far as my trip. What I have decided is once I get off the turnpike. Im taking US22 and stopping at Monroeville Mall. Then afterwards Im getting back on 22 to the Penn Lincoln Parkway. Then I will go to the Southside Waterfront park and walk around there. Then Ill hit downtown afterwards. Maybe grab lunch while Im there. Hotel check in's are usually sometime around 2 or 3pm. So from when I arrive until check in I will start off with east side activities before hitting downtown. And once I check into my hotel I will hit the mall at Robinson as well as other shopping outlets on that side and even downtown again. And Saturday my focus is downtown. And areas around downtown. I will do some transit fanning during both Friday and Saturday that weekend.

These cuts are so sad: Around Town: Without the 62 bus, Karen would just 'work for the car'.

Yes indeed, I agree! Maybe now people will take a transit agency seriously when they say they are in a dire financial situation and need help....hahaha, I could barely say that with a straight face!

Seriously, though...something needs to be done, and I don't think the people with the power even care!

People with power do not care. That is true. Especially the governments. Some who want to do budget cuts even effecting public transportation. And of course those who raise taxes. Especially knowing we are in a recession. And of course those responsible for the high fuel prices dont care. And dont care what it can result in.

Let's hope someday, more of private bus operator would pick up there routes that PAT bailed out since they left the private operator an advantage to serve them.

The cuts started Sunday, and stuff is a hot mess. There are plenty more articles, people are angry.

Also, the Brown Line is dead. :(

I was in Pittsburgh on this past Friday (3/25) & visited the Port Authority Customer Service office on Smithfield St. Indeed, there seemed to be a constant stream of PAT riders who were trying to figure out whether their usual route would still be running or not. I recall one gentleman who appeared to be trying to explain to his wife the changes in the North Hills, along McKnight Rd. I don't think she was pleased.

I also took a ride up on the Mon Incline & returned back downtown on the 40 Mt. Washington bus (Gillig Phantom 1523). The 40 (old 41E) with its twists, turns, & steep hills, reminds me of SEPTA's 35 in Manayunk! As I was getting off 1523 at Penn Station, I wished the driver "good luck with the cuts". She chuckled as if to say "Thanks, I'll need it!"

Also the Nova's are dwindling, I've only seen two this week from walking around in Oakland.
