How come PAT decided to get the 2 rear door model instead of the 1 rear door model? I think 1 rear door would have been better since it gives more available seating.
For the upcoming Rapid Routes. The 61ABCD and 71ABCD will (hopefully) soon become Rapid Routes where you pay before you board, board at any door, and have faster travel between downtown, Oakland, and the East End.

I think SEPTA doesnt want the fully glass doors due to the risk of the bottom glass getting kicked out. Which is why Baltimore MTA stopped them after the 2000 order. PAT can trust having them. So can WMATA. And I dont think NYCMTA has them either.

Baltimore MTA got the Flxibles and NABIs with the bottom glass on the rear door. But the Neoplans and New Flyers do not have them due to the issue of the glass being kicked out from the door frame and MTA got tired of it. So thats why they stopped the bottom glass. The front door is standard with the glass on the bottom of the door on all transit buses. Either with the 2 piece glass or the 1 piece glass on both door pieces.

Not my video, but from Transit2Talk PAT forum. I really hope I get to see/photograph/record this before I leave on the 17th, otherwise I have to wait until the end of August!:
