So today I went out on the South Busway and visited Pittsburgh's ghetto rundown mall know as Century 3. I only went in JC Penny, but the mall is 30% empty. I have bus and lrv video from the Busway, and downtown. I also have a video from my ride on a Neoplan An440lf, its a good video because the AC was off and you can actually hear the DD S50 without the loud gruff noise heard in my other videos. The bus goes on the South Busway and then heads into the tunnel shared with the light rail. I also have some photos to be uploaded to the gallery. Edited by Jayayess1190, Sep 8 2009, 09:19 PM.

Good to hear that you're enjoying your transitfanning so far in the Steel City! If you ever have the chance, take a ride down to Charleroi or California, PA in the Mon Valley on Mid-Mon Valley Transit's Route A or B. You'll ride either a new suburban Gillig LF or an suburban RTS through some of the most frozen-in-time areas anywhere. The routing is mainly old PA 88 which twists & winds for what seems like forever. These two routes operate every day (although service is limited on Sunday). Another scenic ride is Westmoreland Transit's Route 11 from Latrobe through the mountains to Johnstown, via US 30, PA 711, & PA 56. This run only operates a few trips a day & only on weekdays-it can be a challenge to plan, but the scenery is well worth the effort! I rode this over 20 years ago (on a Neoplan Pennliner) when I was attending business school in Johnstown, & still remember it fondly. Michael B. :^) |

Was out on the North Shore for a class project today, rode two Neoplan An440lf's. DD50 vibrating hard in them. The North Shore is a cool part of Pittsburgh, lots of small row homes like in Philly, and small streets with bus service on them. |

Yesterday I saw an Amtrak train. I had no idea they run behind the East Busway which I thought was only frieght. I will have to get a video. Also, I have some more Gillig and lrv video to upload.

I definetly miss being on the NEC, filming only the buses and light rail here will start getting stale soon. Luckily the holidays are coming up, so I'll be back in Philly soon! Also, today I rode a Classic and an An440lf on the 46G, and a Neoplan An460 (DD50 powered!) on the 61B or C (forget). Have videos of the An460 and the Classic. The DD50 Neo's are cool, they have soft seating, reading lights, individual air vents, and luggage storage unlike the DD60 powered ones which have hard seats and no luxuries. I also definitely saw the lag in them like Septa's An460's, but they seemed to get up to speed a little faster than Septa's. Edited by Jayayess1190, Sep 14 2009, 06:49 PM.

Apparently Gillig Advantages 5626 and up have Cummins ISL. I thought they all had ISM, but I will need to go see. Also, Pat's Neoplan Artics with DD50 were made before Septa's. Edited by Jayayess1190, Sep 19 2009, 03:05 PM.

Well, Cleveland is only a couple hours away by bus... There's the RTA buses, light rail lines, and the new BRT line. |

Went downtown for G20 protests, saw protests for free Tibet from China and for legalization of weed. Also got a long 5 minute bus video of a LOT of buses. Since many streets were blocked off, transit traffic was backed up. Also, Obama's motorcade blocked blocked my bus for 15 minutes. The video is uploaded now.
