That's true, I wish I could have ridden them. Also it sucks that if light rail to Oakland gets built, it won't be until after I've graduated. |

Yesterday I rode the light rail to Station Square, then the 41E to Mt. Washington, was on 35ft. Gillig Phantom #1525 (powered by DD50), and it had horrible acceleration up the tunnel under Mt. Washington and going up some of the steep streets on that side of the city. Coming back into downtown I rode #1513, with 4 other people. Have video of #1535 being uploaded.

The DD50 as we know isn't the best with hills (especially with an Allison). That's why I scratch my head when I see TAs like LCTA and Scranton COLTs using them regularly. Speaking of which, if I ever get back to Pittsburgh, I should go for a 41E ride. |

the REAL route you want to ride is the 11E Fineview that was a true streetcar route and to many fans today it still seems like it is even though it isnt anymore, The Fineview is pretty unique it basically covers all of the tight turns and hills of the North Side of Pittsburgh (even goes up an alley for a second) than you loop perrysville avenue for a minute via charles street and you end up down perrysville avenue again back to the North Side, back to town straight 35ft Route (Gillig Phantoms) you can catch it at 2 stops along Penn Avenue some trips you might get lucky and they go to the busway after they're done with a round some head back to the garage it all depends but the Fineview is pretty cool...lots of steep, steep, steep hills and tight streets! |

So today I got my first ride on a Neoplan An345, #1902. Love the DD60 engine! Also missed the 41E to Mt. Washington, so I walked along the 52 (light rail) line instead, got some nice skyline pics, then rode the 52 back into downtown. Of course, I have a video of my 52 ride.

Today was a horrible day in Pittsburgh, wet and overcast. So of course I went out rode DD50 Allison and ZF Gilligs on the 71C, a Neoplan on the EBA, and got light rail video.
