Heard Neoplan An440lf #5111 today, sounded like it had a bit of a death tick in its DD50 engine.

Rode Nova Classic #2707, have a video. Also have some video of light rail at First Ave Station. That station is a great location, right as trains come off the bridge over the Monongahela River into downtown an as trains come out of the downtown tunnel. Both videos now uploaded. I thought the earlier Gilligs had Allison transmissions, while the newer buses had Voith transmissions. |

No, there are Gilligs with ZF's as well as Allison and Voiths! DD50+ZF DD50+Allison ISM/ISL+Voith See my videos for proof. Also, the Port Authority's transit change plan went through! See here and here (found out on Buschat). Excited for this, will make getting around much less confusing, though regular residents will have to pay more for their fares. No I don't but I will try and see if I can get one. I am about to head out to do some filming/photography and will look for some Neo's. Edit: I failed. Edited by Jayayess1190, Oct 25 2009, 07:47 PM.

My first true HD video has been uploaded, it is a 47L train arriving and departing First Ave station downtown. I also have a bus video from the East Busway to be uploaded as soon as I can get WLMM to work. |

So I've just heard that Pat just received some new 5700 series hybrids, and some more Nova Classic's will be retiring soon. So I really need to get out there and get a good recording soon. Photos (not mine) here. Edited by Jayayess1190, Oct 30 2009, 06:03 PM.

More Gilligs for the Burgh... Yawn... They could've at least gone for the BRT version just to make it a little more interesting. Once the Novas are gone, it'll just be Neos and Gilligs. Not quite as diverse of a fleet when there were Ikarus artics, Neoplan 40-ft buses, Flxibles, Orions, and Novas. My one regret is that I never took a chance to hit Pittsburgh a few years ago before the Gillig invasion. |

Come 2010 when the new transit plan eventually goes into effect, the routes I will be using most will be the R1, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, and R8 (Replacing the 61, 71, and 500 routes I use). These routes will help create a "Rapid" transit corridor between downtown and Oakland (where Pitt is located). Buses will run frequently and provide a fast ride between the neighborhoods. Also Pat buses have started receiving new fare boxes, I rode an Advantage with one. ![]() ![]()
