SEPTA is doing their best to wear the TT's out. The EPU unit is designed for fires, police emergencies, etc. Any planned long term detours should be bused. SEPTA's mentality is to turn on the EPU at a moment's notice. There was no reason to have that fiasco at Arrrott Terminal for 5 months with the steps project. And why aren't the wires in the Frankford vault lane put up, so they won't have to EPU though there? And fix all the switches and missing wires at the district so we have a true trackless operation. If this keeps up, SEPTA will get their wish and the 59, 66 & 75 will be back to buses again, permanently. Chuck |

Well, Chuck, they use them every day to move about the yard, and even to deadhead to all 3 routes. That's likely wearing them out the most in my opinion. They (SEPTA) were rushed into having the TTs back, and didn't do the best job of upgrading the system. |

Why SEPTA didn't put a ISB(or at least a eletric generator) and a small gas tank in them we will never know.............CAUSE THAT'S WHAT THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE!!!!

WTF is the point of that Keep the TT for only a year. Pretty smart Septa now this will most likely see permanent bustitution on former trackless trolley routes 29 & 79 |

I ASSURE you that SEPTA did not spend a million dollars each for 38 TTs only to retire them in the next year. |

I hope so because Septa would be stupid to think of the words "retire" in the same sentence as a New Flyer Trackless Trolley |

Now if we gotta be trapped with 78462560289057 D (E) 40LFs for the rest of our anti-transit-fan-to-be lives.... Edited by Trainwizard, Sep 30 2009, 04:52 PM.

They have to keep them 12 to 13 years. That Federal money stuff. A million each is a little high, say $880,000. |

No EPU use today. The wires are up at Arrott, Bells corner is still open. The ADA ramp at bells corner is slowly getting there. A few pictures from today 10/02/09. Chuck |
