I remember as a kid the Neo's had the original fat steering-wheel & sometime in the 90's I started to see a change to a more skinny-glossy type of steering-wheel. When I was hired & went to Southern the bus I remember with original steering wheel was 3114. I knew that the steering-wheels would bend with enough weight put on it, but could be bent back to shape with enough pressure. 3114 was my Friday night bus in the hold-downs on the G/68!!! She was a street-sweeper ;)

If I'm not mistaken, the steering wheel changes for the Neoplans went from as far as the Neo CDs that Southern & Comly had, even though not all of them got the steering wheels swapped out, to the Neo EZs.

I know that the Neo AKs & BDs didn't get them. The 8600s that Midvale & Southern(Callowhill) had, as well as the 8700 suburbans assigned to Victory didn't get them either. I couldn't understand as to why SEPTA swapped the steering wheels for these Neoplans.

Horn switches. As much as that horn got hit, occasionally they crap out. After a while Neoplan stopped making that particular wheel and Bus ops just purchased a similarly sized generic that when onto the most of the DK's and everything past the EB's during their overhauls in 1995. Older buses (BM, BP, and CD models) was a as needed.

Weren't the newer ones also used in the NABIs, El Dorado Transmark RE-29s and the Neoplan Artics or no I know the New Flyers have a steering wheel with 3 spokes instead of two.
