Railroad as in the B&O trackage down there which operated on Delaware Valery?
thought most of philly was Reading served?
Actually I think it's abit of both that operated on Delaware Ave and nearby. I do know that there's some trackage on Washington Ave as well. Remember both the Reading and the B&O were allies against the PRR.

A major construction project on Bridge St between Jackson and Torresdale resulted in the uncovering of Trolley Tracks burried under Asphalt for nearly 55 years. Trolley route 73 ran cars along rails between Bridge-Pratt and Frankford Arsenal up until September 1955 when service was converted to bus and extented to Richmond and Westmoreland taking over part of route 15!

That is interesting to know. I live on bridge street next to the construction and i never saw that

I have seen old trolley tracks for the 7 and 48 at 23rd and Brown when they would repave the streets since both us routes were once trolley routes of course.

On Saturday evening I drove along Spruce Street in the westbound direction. They are "repaving" Spruce Street, I believe between 42nd & 45th Streets. On the westbound side, I spotted some rail underneath the asphalt.

The 42 used to be a streetcar line that COULD HAVE been re-routed into the surface car tunnel along with the 10, 11, 13, 34 & 36. PTC decided otherwise and on September 8-10, 1956, PTC made the 42 a bus line, ending streetcar service along Chestnut Street forever.

In 1957, street crews paved the intersection of 46th & Spruce Streets.
