Hey Friends!

Check out this interesting website about TTC's future LFLRVs...SEPTA eat your hearts out! http://lrv.ttc.ca/default.aspx What are your thoughts about this 100% low floor design?

Cheers,

~NeeNee~ ;)

I do agree with you BusGuy. I know SEPTA will never invest in a vehicle that long...who knows though? TTC does have the the ridership to justify the 98.5ft long lflrvs. The first 3 three prototypes will have pans supposedly to test operations on lines that have been extensively rewired for dual operation (i.e. Rts 509 and 512 St Clair & 510 Spadina perhaps). I love the exterior personally. The website doesn't have specific demensions as of yet. Toronto & TTC will be the first NA city to buy a mother load of 100% low floor LRVs 204 cars is alot. The two current carhouses Roncesvalles & Russell will only be able to store about 52 cars at each facility. The TTC is in the early stages of constructing a third facility to house & maintain the new LFLRVs which is a given. They will only be able to do running repairs of the Flexities and the two existing carhouses. Mixed fleet operation will be a site to behold truly!

Cheers,

~NeeNee~ :)

Some of the routes down here *cough* 10 *cough* would benifit from longer cars too, but the problem lies in how SEPTA designed some of the stations.. You would never see a long tram like that in the subway part of the line

Sad but true young man! I ride the 10 as well and u couldn't be more right about that fact. Shoot, they cab barely manage the line as it is. The 10 also has operators who seem to be scared of the accelerator as well which contributes to the conga line of rt10 trolleys at times.

The 13 and the 36 could benefit from two car operation. Nowadays, mainly the 36. The headways on the 13 are incredible however ridership patterns are next to nonexistent beyond Mount Moriah( except for a dozen people on the car to Yeadon/Darby).

As for the 36, the line stays crowded well through the Elmwood area(Elmwood Avenue, from 62nd to Island Road).

Down by Lindbergh Boulevard, you can fill up a car VERY fast.

As for the 10, it's a line. That's all the 10 is. A real West Philly hood line.
