I attended this yesterday. A nice opportunity to see some of the Museum's fleet, which includes SEPTA 8590. A few buses from other owners were on display at the Automobile History museum, where part of the festivities were held, with a bus shuttle between the two.

Ran into Tom Collins who advised that another SEPTA NABI will be joining CAT's fleet shortly - he thinks it will be 5194 but not sure, and for some reason SEPTA is delaying shipment of it. 9603 was one of the buses on display at the auto museum - not sure what SEPTA number it was (and there are almost no vestiges of SEPTA left on it, other than the ADA checklist above the op's area). It looks nice in blue.

CAT has done a much better job painting the bus than SEPTA.

Glad to see they brought the black trim back. :P

WOW!! That's good livery for a used brick! I wish SEPTA kept that black window trim! Apparently Cat is reviving the vintage wonder of the bricks!

I love that they brought the black trim back, but it totally makes the Nabi look old. Looking inside the seats look different, I think I see a red stripe near the top?

I was also there on Saturday. CAT 9603 was originally SEPTA 5042, according to a small sign on the side window of the bus. The bus is actually a even darker shade of blue than the picture shows!

The front (smaller) destination sign was originally from one of CAT's RTSes. A CAT employee (who was about to drive the bus back to Harrisburg after the Fling) told me that CAT attempted to use the original front sign but it was no longer working, so they put the RTS sign in 9603/ex 5042 instead. The sign control has been changed to a standard Luminator. The original center-window side sign is still intact & works.

CAT also has removed both the SEPTA block number sign & the inside overhead "next stop" annunicator panel. The interior seating was not changed.

I noticed the sign on the heritage of the bus but Tom C wasn't sure this was accurate. Yes, the front sign has been replaced. I saw this on an in-service bus a couple of weeks ago and it looks odd compared to when the signs were full-width. The seating is exactly the same - looks like it was cleaned, but that's all.

I was wondering if the entire interior panel that covers the front was replaced, since any evidence of the stop request sign isn't there.

Tom C noted that the RTS's are completely retired now - sad to say I recall when they were brand new and it doesn't seem like that long ago.

From what I saw on a visit to the 'burg a couple of weeks ago, I think the smaller sign is in more than one of the buses. I don't recall seeing a side sign on that bus (which number I can't recall now) - there was the space for one, but there either was no sign or it wasn't working.

Wow! I was wondering if they were going to replace the RTSs. I'm glad I got my final photo of one when I was in Harrisburg last month. It was interesting as that RTS, 939, was the only RTS I saw in service at the time.
