Anybody got info and history on the following long-dead transit companies:
North Penn Bus
Auch Interboro Transit
Philco Coach
Garden State Coach Co [Coachways?]
Colonial Coach
Mercer Metro
Atlantic City Transportation
Five Mile Beach Bus Co.
Who ran transit in Wilmington pre-DART?
Information on routes and who took them over [or how they died] is appreciated.

Hi Mark, I have some items I would like to include in your list. Here's part of a brochure/timetable in my collection dated 1989. As I get a chance, I will include some other things.
Good idea to do this.

Anybody got info and history on the following long-dead transit companies:
North Penn Bus
They were a bus company spun off from Lehigh Valley Transit, as it abandoned its local services outside of its core area. The company lasted until ca. 1970, when it closed up.
Auch Interboro Transit
This was a successor to the old Reading Transit line from Chestnut Hill to Norristown, which was part of a line that ran to Reading. The first buses ran ca. 1931, and ran until ca. 1975, when it went belly-up.
Philco Coach
I think you mean Philboro Coach, which was the successor to the G.R. Wood Bus Company, one of two suburban lines in South Jersey that Public Service never acquired. The line ran to Glassboro, and it was given up under pressure from NJDOT to Transport of New Jersey as part of its subsidized South Jersey network around 1975.
Colonial Coach
That was the successor (perhaps more than once removed) of Neibauer Bus Company, which replaced a trolley operator whose name escapes me at the moment. This company also operated a line in Montgomery County that was bought by PTC in 1949 which became the Route XA, and is now part of Route 28. Despite its small size, it did have some GM TD3206's, an unusual purchase for a small operator.
Mercer Metro
They were a county successor to Capital Transit, which had succeeded Trenton Transit in 1959. Mercer Metro bought out Capital Transit in 1969, and was famous for its fleet of ex-PS 4509's, one of which started out as PS E313, and is in preservation by NJT, the eventual operator of the Mercer Metro system.
Atlantic City Transportation
They were the local operator in Atlantic City. Its predecessor was a subsidiary of the Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines, and known for its Brilliners. It lasted until the 1980's, when NJT bought them out.
Five Mile Beach Bus Co.
They were the successor of Five Mile Beach Railway, which was one of the last operators of open trolleys. It was later known for having ex-PS TDH4008's that had Brill C31 decoration. It may be still in business in some form.

Five Mile Beach is still running as per the current 319 schedule, they no longer have any NJT buses though AFAIK. The last known NJT buses there were the ex-NYCTA Grumman 870s.
Mercer Metro was taken over by a subsidy company of NJT. NJT is going to be doing the same thing to PABCO Transit (Passaic-Athenia Bus Company) within the next month.
Does anyone know anything about a company called Real Transit? They were based out of Rockaway, NJ.

As I recall, Five Mile operated a fake-trolley loop through the Wildwoods as of a few years ago. I don't know if they still do or not.

As I recall, Five Mile operated a fake-trolley loop through the Wildwoods as of a few years ago. I don't know if they still do or not. Yes it still runs during the summer months. Uses replica trolleys for the most part.
