I just started on this forum today and the one bus that sticks out for me was Neoplan AK 8289. Has anyone ever gotten on this bus from Comly? If you have, tell me about it. I saw this so many times on Route R, K, and 26 back in 1996 and wished I got on it. For some reason, I never got to hear that engine blow. Does any Septa Veterans on here have any experiences or have even driven the bus? Leave comments...

Some of us are employees and drivers. I drove out of Southern when I was a driver and I loved my noe's

AHH Southern district. Southern had a lot of the fastest buses on the fleet besides Frankford, Comly, and Midvale. However, I remember, back in 1997, getting on Neoplan AK 8363 that was serving route C to City Hall. When we got up a few blocks on the Neo AK, I then saw 8376 and 8309 going to opposite way!!! I guess SEPTA were exhausting the Neo AKs and Bds before they were retired.

Sounds like a practice which Callowhill used before sending their last Neoplans over to Frankford in the summer of 2005. Callowhill would place Neoplans on several of their routes that has not seen them since 2001. The route 40 and 44 comes to mind.

IMO this is a good practice, and something they should think about again now with the NABI's. Work the hell out of the NABI's and save the mileage on the flyers.

That's a good point. I remember Midvale did that in the summer of 2005 (which I call the "Neoplosion of 2005") because suddenly the once hard to find Neoplans were EVERYWHERE at ANYTIME!
