I remember riding the RTS's, they were indeed slow,also the a/c rarely worked or didnt work at all,plus I remember that on most of them I rode the back door area always smelled like piss |

Weren't the last of the rts buses retired in 97? I'm trying to think.

pretty much yes, but 4458 lasted until 1998 at callowhill maintenance and the other, 4462, is a historical bus that is still here, but yes the last revenue service rtses were retired in 1997.... |

Septa went back to neoplan in 98 for artics the volvos were having problems as well not only the neo artics replaced the volvos they also replaced more 40 foot neos and the volvos were retired by the summer of 2000 |

man, just think about what would've happened if we chose neoplan in 1994... We would have had AN440's until now, and maybe we could've purchased more! If SEPTA went with neoplan in 1994 Neoplan might still be in business, even given that MTBA would screw neoplan over in 2005, its just a thought... |

because even though septa was forced to go with ikarus because they were the lowest bidders, they still loved neoplan, septa purposefully made ridiculous deadlines for the NABI's, different customizations, and at the last moment changed paint schemes, and bus due dates which American Ikarus couldn't fulfill, therefore the subsidiary of Ikarus USA/American Ikarus, which was NABI Hungary, took over in late 1996 after 5255, the last Ikarus was delivered...

Boston was supposed to get more buses from neoplan but that didn't work out so they went to new flyer for the rest of the order. |
