http://www.subchat.com/buschat/readflat.asp?Id=223190 OMFG! Looks like a trip to DC in the spring! Here's a tidbit: the 7000 series was once occupied by New Flyer's old partner AM General! |

Wow look at that! And its WMATA! Boy they are going with these awesome buses in present that has new technologies in it. Indeed they're going for it following New Flyer's discontinue of the LFA. I wonder if SEPTA's 2011 order will be Xcelsior or even if SEPTA plans to order them in the future when go out their next future order. Edited by septa105R5, Feb 17 2011, 09:39 PM.

They will probably be the ones to replace the 54/5500's, as well as 60 footers to replace the Neoplans. |

I would hope/wish so! Considering we already have a lot of restyles...maybe we should also have a 4th gen hybrid. |

Those 5400 series New Flyers are starting to crumble. We are going to need some replacements for those buses real soon. In fact, the time is flying and the 5400s are going to be 10 years old this year and we are still getting rid of some more NABIS too. Is SEPTA going to do a massive bus reassignment just like when the Neoplan AK and BD series were phased out back in 1997 once we get rid of some of the NABIs? Note: This year also marks the retirement phase for the 7100 series Neo AN460s as well. Talk about a mass number of buses being out of service and Midvale is still overloaded with retired NABIs. |

So it does appear Baltimore MTA is piggybacking off this order. MTA is also getting the Xcelsior but theres are not due until July at the earliest. So Im glad to know the Baltimore MTA isnt using a different model to piggyback off of WMATA. So it looks like the only feature differences will infact be colors. Interior/Exterior. Tail lights. Rear door opening style. Maybe rear door windowing. And at this point Ralign Wells isnt sure if he wants the rear window on the 2011 Xcelsiors but I wouldnt be surprised if WMATAs have them. |
