http://prevostcar.com/cgi-bin/pages.cgi?page=media&newsid=1301509045 From this link on Prevost's website NYCMTA is getting 90 X3-45s with bi parting entry doors. So it looks like Prevost now makes the X3-45 in a commuter version. Which makes sense since now Van Hool offers the C2045 in a commuter version and MCI offered the MC9, A Series and D Series in commuter coach. So its good that Prevost makes the X3-45 in a commuter version. Especially knowing Greyhound owns X3-45s from 08-09 and they are a line haul carrier. |

Yep, I've been following NYCTF for a while and you can add 90 D40LFRs or XD40s, 90 Nova diesel LFS, 90 Orion VII diesels, around 330 LFSAs over a few years and anywhere from 135 to around 600 C40LFRs to that list. Also the XC60 may show up in NYC but that has yet to be decided. |

This is very interesting. I can't wait to see what Prevost comes up with. One thing is that the drivers will have to worry about the longer wheelbase on these models compared to the D4500s |

I think they will be just like the standard X3-45 except maybe the front headsign will be different. But Im not 100% sure. As well as a side headsign and a rear headsign. Also bi parting doors instead of the sedan style door. And of course no restrooms. And that may pretty much be it. Its good to see a good variety in commuter buses again as almost all transit manufacturers discontinued their commuter coach. Neoplan who is now out of business discontinued the AN340 and AN345. And New Flyer discontinuing the viking Cruiser. Leaving the only manufacturer to still make commuter coaches being MCI. But now Van Hool makes a C2045 park and ride coach. And Prevost to now make the X3-45 commuter coach. |
