According to this link, a member has highlighted important parts of the video of a presentation during a meeting on 3-21-2011. 7 types of buses of being tested: 3 kind of 40 footers, 2 kind of artics http://www.subchat.com/buschat/read.asp?Id=227888 So far, The 12 standard test buses that have been ordered are by this: 90 Nova LFS, 90 Orion VII NG 3G, and New Flyer XD40 Xcelsior. All three depots are getting a total of 90 buses with each depot geting 30 of each kind of those buses. For the artic buses, they're looking at ordering more of Nova LFS Artic later on in the future for the order of 328 buses to replace their 1998-2000 New Flyer D60HF. After the experience of Nova LFS Artics from their 1st order delivered in 2009-2010, they've noticed they performed well especially with the fuel economy that's 25% more than the New Flyer D60HF. Also, MTA New York is looking to test a New Flyer XD60 Xcelsior in the future pending on the test in the shaker table; MTA New York is going back with New Flyer as they claimed that previous problems of the buses in the fleet has been resolved as well as changes with new leadership at New Flyer. For the motorcoach fleet, they're expecting delivery of the Prevost X3-45 commuter buses they have in order from January, 2011 to arrive in summer soon; this is a change in experiencing other buses after ordering MCI D series buses for about past 12 years as the MCI is the only manufacturer for commuter bus. And finally, they'll look at turbine buses in the future when they're changed and tested deem successful after the 1st five Designline buses from last order was unsuccessful due to the problem with turbine causing frequent maintenance that led an early withdrawal from service. So here are the test buses of what MTA New York is expecting now or in the future |
