I may still look into Megabus as well. Since I do know Megabus starts at $19 an hour after training. And I dont remember if this is the case for Megabus but Bolt Bus requires a CDL permit to be hired. I know Coach USA doesnt have CDL permit posted on their employment requirements but I dont know if that posting for Philadelphia is strictly for Megabus or Coach USA services in General in the Philadelphia area. But either way it would be a good opportunity. Greyhound. If it wasnt for the fact that new drivers are on call 24/7 Id try them out but since that is the case. I dont think so. |

http://mcicoach.com/media-center/2011-06-17-bolt.htm From this article Bolt Bus is got 15 new MCI D4505s. The article says for the NY to Boston route? I have seen these in the Baltimore area as well as the Philadelphia area and rode 0876 to NY on Wednesday. So they do run the entire Bolt Bus system. These buses also have Cummins engines. It doesnt show the name but my guess is they have the ISX11.9. I dont recall them sounding like the ISL or ISM so my guess is they are the ISX 11.9. Edited by Nabi60SFW9620, Jul 10 2011, 07:29 AM.

I have ridden on one of them and they are pretty decent!! Yes, they have the Cummins ISX and let me tell you something, These buses has the 6 speed transmission, if the bus is going 67mph and is going over an inclimb, the transmission will downshift two gears back into 4th - making these buses performance hoggers!

I enjoyed riding 0876 to NYC. I was hoping to get another MCI D4505 coming back but in route back I wound up riding 0847. As far as the MCI D4505. I did see on the specs it is no longer available with ZF Astronics. Only Allison B500. Which is good because I think the ZF Astronic sucks. The only thing I dislike with the D4505s is the area where the third seat in the rear row is when there is only 2 seats in the rear row. It is more of a hump which means sitting in the aisle in the back row you have to either put your bags under your feet or on the luggage rack. And the Prevost X345 the area where the third rear row seat would go is a flat surface so I was able to use that to sit my backpack down during the ride. And the back row of the X345 the seats do recline and not on the MCI D Series coach. |
