Oh shoot I forgot to post that, yea the 4 and 16 signs are pretty much up now, also the buses (as earlier posted in the photo thread) has been updated inside and outside.

Also, bus AVA systems on the buses have already gotten the announcements updated to announce 4 and 16 (and there's already a programming glitch that causes route 6 to announce the 4 at Broad & Olney)
on Route 23 it annouces the 4 at Rising Sun Ave but still annouces the C at Broad and Erie

Here's a trivia question:

What group of SEPTA buses NEVER ran on the C?
The 30 foot Flxibles - 1157-1161.
That was one group, but I'm looking at another group of buses that never ran on the C.

Hint: They were a common sight on Broad St, but never worked the C bus.

I'm going to say the Volvo artics (7001-7050). They were always based at Allegheny, which never had the C assigned to it.

I saw a pic of a Volvo with a sign saying C Broad St, but I'm pretty sure it was actually serving route 48.

Here's the picture TrainWizard is thinking of:

Route 48 At 19th & Market With Incorrect Route C Destination Sign In 1993

I took this picture of 7008 at 19th & Market, SE corner, on February 3, 1993. 7008 was indeed running on the 48 that day. You can see the then-brand new Independence Blue Cross building in the background. (One of many pix that I later gave to PTVer RedArrowDoug to eventually be scanned here.) At that time I often carried my 35mm Canon Sure Shot Owl Date camera to/from work. Wish I still had it today!

The easy answer seems to have already been put out there - the Volvos. I think another could be the 5050's but not so sure they were a common sight on Broad St. I know Germantown had a sizable group of them and 6, 55, etc used them, so they were at least common on the northern reaches of Broad St and only for a couple of blocks. A third could be the Davy Crocketts - there were a lot of them at Luzerne but I don't think any of them would have ever gotten out onto the C deliberately.

Can't say the 30-foot Flx's were never used on C (I'm guessing not), but I have seen Neoplan artics, 35-footers, and at least one El Dorado on the route on occasion.

Different question - will 16 be signed for City Hall or 15th-Market?

Are they going to change the error at Broad and Olney for the 4? What's up with the old route G error on the Fox Chase bound 18's? Did they update the B&O announcement or is it still announcing route G instead of route 6?

The Fox Chase bound 18 still says G instead of 6 but it might change now since they are updating buses to announce the C as 4 16. Also the 18 going either to fox chase or cedarbrook does not announce the 26 or the 80.

Those folks who said the Volvo buses are right. Those buses never did the C route. As far as the 5050's, they were a common sight on Broad St in Center City since they did the old A and A Express buses back in the day.

Those 5050's [5050-5099] were 1967 TDH 5303 with Air-Conditioning. these buses were assigned to 4 garages: Allegheny, Germantown, Comly and Frankford. The ones at Allegheny usually can be found on the A, 7, and 48 lines. Germantown's were seen usually on their half of the K, S, and 26 lines with an occasional appearance on the 55, Frankford used theirs on their half of the K, S, and 26, and R lines, while Comly ran theirs on the B , 20, and 59b routes with cameo appearances on the W and the Y. Despite being the same age of the {TDH5304}4150-4249 fishbowls, these buses were retired in 1981 because of their 102 inch width. The 5304's were sent to be rebuilt by NIMCO and Blitz.
