News from the SEPTA Capital Budget meeting. A decision on the next batch of 90 40 foot buses and 155 articulated will be most likely made at the March SEPTA Board Meeting. They will be hybrid buses. The follow up option may or may not be hybrids depending on the funding. SEPTA loves the hybrids. They are hoping to get additional funding so the optional follow up order which SEPTA seem to already want will also be hybrids. Otherwise bleak news on the Capital Budget. Not much is planned. Some attendees have pipe dreams like a Boulevard Subway, MFL extension to Broomall and Roosevelt Boulevard, Restoration of trolley service on Routes 6, 23, and 56 and commuter rail to Newtown. All of this sounds great but SEPTA needs $5 billion. Yes B as in billion just to return the current system to a state of good repair. Kind of puts the ax on people dream transit system. Get involved and help fight Harrisburg to get SEPTA the money or service cuts will occur when the bridges start falling down. |

So the 90 40 foot buses will be hybrid buses? Did SEPTA secure additional funding to make the 90 40 foot order hybrids as well? As far as the rest, it is more of the same stuff from yesteryear!

Hybrid buses? I wonder if they'll get more DE40LFR and possibly new DE60LFR |

The contract has NOT been awarded yet. If New Flyer gets it then expect those models but right now who knows? |

Yes I understand that they haven't award the contract yet. I was just stating my possible guess on what SEPTA might get although these might not be the exact bus that they might get. It's all up to SEPTA's decision. |

No idea until the order has been officially approved. I would say sometime in FY2012, but that is speculation. |

Still no word if New Flyer even put a bid in on it. Edited by Septa3371CSX1, Jan 12 2012, 04:57 PM.

I don't know about about anyone else but I have been checking on the reviews for NovaBus and they are sky high at a 5 star rating and I believe these would look very beautiful for SEPTA's fleet. Did you know that the Volvo Bus Corporation is affiliated with NovaBus? If NovaBus and New Flyer get involved in the bidding wars, it could be very close. I give two thumbs up to NovaBus |
