March 15 is actually the committee meetings. The full board meeting on March 22 is the "rubber stamp" session where everything approved at the committee meetings are generally approved during a "consent calendar" vote.

I anticipate getting my copy of the Board agenda for the March 22 meeting in a matter of days, but I'm sure it will be confirmed before then.

Let me also add that I am less than pleased with Nova being selected. I would've much rather seen New Flyer get the contract. I know everyone's going to complain about a lack of variety, but from an operations standpoint, New Flyer would've been the better fit. Now, at least for the forseeable future (while the order is being delivered), you're looking at stocking parts for four different manufacturers (NABI, Neoplan, New Flyer and likely Nova).

Make that five manufacturers, there are still a few Eldorados out there!

Didn't I say the bidding wars would get crazy if NovaBus and New Flyer get involved but this time New Flyer had to back out....But one thing is for sure, I am going to miss the Neos!!!!! That is going to be the end of the Neoplan Era forever. Welcome to Philadelphia NovaBus.

From Wiki:

Quote:

The next bus type, which has steered SEPTA into a new era, was the low-floor bus. After evaluating sample buses in the 1995–96 period from New Flyer and NovaBus, SEPTA placed an order with New Flyer for 100 low-floor buses (5401–5500).

So this official, SEPTA is going to NovaBus for the next bus order?

If so, it is wow after the past ten years ordering New Flyer Buses, looks like we'll meet a new different of class buses coming into SEPTA's fleet.

It'll be interesting to see another kind of buses coming into our state joining the existing group of buses dominating the State of PA including New Flyers, Gilligs, and Van Hool (Krapf's Rover Transit).

The last time we had a new kind of buses that's new to us was back in 2010 when Van Hool A300L for Krapf's Transit started operating for apartment shuttle and rover transit.

So sad to see the flyers era end and I welcome Nova but I think they won't last as long as new flyer would of. But with Nabi's dissapearing Neopland going away it would be a nightmare with 99.8% New Flyer and .02% El Dorado's All depots are New Flyer Only except Comly and Midvale (and Germantown)
