For you fans of older-model buses, a trip to Portland (OR) might be in order. A long way to travel, but Tri-Met is still operating Gillig high-floors from '90-'92 (both 30' and 40'), Flxibles from '92 (both 30' and 40'), as well as a fleet of various NF low-floors. The newest buses date to '09-'10. An order of buses is due later this year (not sure of size or model), which will likely spell the end of the mentioned Gilligs and Flx's.

Also, forgot to mention that the NF's all have the louvered engine cover above the belt rail, with the rear number box centered in this area.

The Flxibles are from 1992?! Wow, 20 years old - I thought they were at least from '95. No wonder a lot of the bus passengers feel slighted by the Tri-Met's investment in the MAX and streetcar system.

The new buses will be Gillig BRTs: http://blog.oregonlive.com/commuting/2011/11/trimet_plans_to_add_55_new_sta.html

There were two orders of Flx's, in '92 and '94. The 30' models are all from the '94 order. There are some of each vintage still around, and from what I've seen, all the 30' ones are still in regular service on the west side 'hill climber' short lines (51 and 63).
