Some recent roadway milling in Center City has re-exposed portions of the old Route 47 trackage. I noticed this on 8th St south of Market in several places. (Interesting to have the 47 bus running on the rails...). I think this might be the first time that pavement has been removed since the rails were covered, I believe in the early 70's. 8th St in this stretch was particularly beat up and the new surface will be welcome. (The granite block pavement being re-exposed looks great...)

9th St is also milled but the rails are not visible from what I could see.

I use both of these streets too and have taken note of the old tracks and paving being exposed. In my family we always used the term Belgian block to describe the granite paving blocks.

And I'm glad that most of the work is being done during the midnight hours!

8th St is finally paved (must've happened overnight last night). 9th St is being prepped now.
