I am currently in Houston for family purposes and I'm shocked to see that there active bus fleet still has new flyers D40LF dating back to production in 1996 riding around. also they placed an order for nova's 60ft LFS which will arrive soon after getting rid of there Neoplans (60ft) a couple years back.

but still i miss home there no fleet like SEPTA's

I visited Houston Metro in April, 2010. Interesting system, which also features Orion VII NG's, MCI D-series commuter coaches, & light rail. It's also the only system where you can find New Flyer's Viking coach in service!

On the weekend of my visit, just by chance, Houston Metro was holding their annual bus roadeo. I recall that they had special destination signs made up which featured each competitor's name along with their depot's name. Great idea! There was also one of their then brand-new Orions on display.

All of the Houston Metro staff on hand at the Roadeo were most hospitable to this Philly transit fan! I hope to return one day to explore the Houston Metro system more!

I suspect the Vikings are now out of service once the MCI hybrid cruisers replaced those buses (the only other Vikings ever built were three to New York City Transit for use out of Casey Stengel Garage on the X51).

I do recall seeing an Orion VII NG heading south on 81 near Shippensburg a couple years ago.
