CANTANKEROUS OLD MAN

::Once more the cameras would follow upon the backstage actions, as the worn CM Punk would make his way through the halls after his match. Tribal was in pursuit with him, saying nothing and looking almost disappointed in herself. But the anger of Punk had subsided, as he moved to clasp a strand of his hair and wring the sweat and water from it while falling into a chair. Head sunken down, he would continue to catch his breath, staring down at the floor as he spoke. He knew the camera was there, and the guiding hand of Tribal fell upon his aching shoulder in a soothing press.::

"Do you hear that? That's the sound of thousands of screaming fans, packed into the building cheering their heads off. They come in droves by bus and car, planes ship them over lakes and mountains. People from all walks of life come into this building. They buy their popcorn, their booze, their posters. Consumers all of them, and they watch that ring, the very ring I was just in. I came here, up to Ontario with my mind on a mission. To spread my message, that straight edge isn't just a way of life. No no, it's a purpose. It's a driving force, a divine quest. It's the reason for existing. I made my way down through these fans whom drink and fill their stomachs with a festering poison. And I was face to face with YOU AJ Styles. Face to face with a man.."

::And the words found themselves stuck in Punk's throat, as he seemed to almost be second guessing what he was going to say, with a single thrust he had peeled the knee pad to his right off. Now staring directly into the camera.::

"Not just any man, no. AJ Styles has all the credentials in the world. He is simply one of the best in the ring. And I won't even begin to lie when I say I have no shame in losing to you. My body is bruised, and my pride is damaged, but like the song goes.. sacrifice everything you know, you love. And that's exactly what happened to me last night AJ. I gave my dignity and my honor away for my greater good."

::And greed overtook Punk, his finger jutting to press into his tanned chest. That angered expression now weaving it's way across his face as brows knitted downward to accompany his scowl. The twinkle apparent in his eye as he seemed to recall a fond memory, but now a almost hollow one.::

"Honor, that's a familiar word to you and I isn't it? These people know about Honor between two old friends don't they? What you saw in that ring when I entered is now a dead and dying thing. The Punk of old is gone, replaced by what you see before you now. I am born before you a new man, one who sees the hypocrisy of Honor for what it is now. A SHAM! Where has Honor gotten you AJ Styles!? You squander for your recognition now, and grasp your wins like a man on his last strings. You shake hands, you never jump someone from behind, and you play the good guy. And what has it got you? NOTHING!"

::That voice had been raised, almost as if AJ's frustration was Punk's own. By now he was regaining his composure. Marri had settled to helping with his wrist tape, unwinding the length of black tape from about that forearm as she sought to take some of the burden upon herself of unreadying him from combat.::

"I will not be like you AJ Styles, I will take my wins by any means necessary. I will do what I must, when I must. And that is why she came last night. The woman with me believes in my message. She is a straight edge soldier, and she knows better what playing by the rules get you. Marri Tribal slaved in HPWF for years, and in the end she came out with no respect, nothing to show for the scars she wears from being in that ring! Together we have a bond, we understand each others sentiments and know exactly what we must do."

::Punk finally rose from his chair, as the duo would be seen with the dull light that surfaced overhead filled the scene with illumination. Brilliant gaze of persian blue following Punk's lips as he spoke and agreeing with every word he preached. The same flare of passion that Punk found in his promos coming to life with those final words.::

"But see, self sacrifice is no longer the answer. No Marri, we now change our direction. Because with drastic times, comes drastic measures. A new answer is needed, and that answer is human. Bryan Danielson, at In Your House I am going to do just like I did before, and beat you. But I'm going to come to that ring and deliver a message. CM Punk is the future of New Glory. I am a man of unmeasurable talents, and I will not be denied for long. Danielson first, and then AJ. I will correct my mistake. And that.. is a promise, because I am better than you."

::The one wrist that was still taped would be raised upward. The back of his hand presented with the stark white X drilled. The symbol of straight edge. Punk had laid his threat down, and now it was a matter of him backing it up.::
