The scene opens up to an old park with kids playing basketball on the basketball court. The camera zooms in on the court and shows the cracks in the pavement and the ripped nets of the hoop. there are 2 hoops on opposite ends of the court and only 1 has a rim. The ball is barely pumped but the kids seem to accept it and still are having fun. The camera pans to the right and zooms in on Dalton Dunn sitting on a half broken park bench. He is looking down at the ground with his forearms draped over his knees. The camera man walks up to him and he begins to speak. "People have told me, I don't have what it takes to make it big. People have told me, I don't have the skill to become a champion. People have told me, I don't have the consistency to stay on top if I get there. And you know what I tell people? I tell people, Believe what you believe because I know I have the most important thing. Drive. I have the drive to make it big. I have the drive to become a champion and the best one anyone in the RCWF has ever seen. I have the drive to make it all the way to the top, and continue to be at the top until the end." Dalton lifts his head up and looks into the camera. He takes a deep breath and looks around. The camera pans around the park and looks back at the kids playing basketball. The camera rotates slowly back to Dunn and he puts his arm on the back of the bench. He smiles as a kid sinks a 3 point shot. "But, in order to finish at the top, you have to start at the bottom. And that's where I am at now. The bottom of the order. It's just like back in the day when I last played ball. You had to earn that starting position, it wasn't given to you. This isn't a walk in the park, this is real, this is the big leagues...and I...am going to make it to the top. And when I do, things are going to change around here. The camera pans around the park. Trash is flying around in the air and covers the ground. The lake is polluted and is a greenish brown color. The playground is half broken and the basketball court is a wreck as well. The camera pans back to Dunn who just stares and shakes his head at the destruction he calls his hometown. He laughs at the thoughts of him playing ball here as a kid. "When I make it big, I am changing all of this. A new park. A new Gym, a brand new playground and court. But like I said before, in order to make it to the top, I have to train. And with the help of my pro Jake Rogers, I think I have the best chance to win NextGen with Jake. He has trained champions like Alexis Palmer, to superstars like Mr. Jones. Everything is won in the weight room. As we used to say when I played ball. Games are won in the Off Season. And that's the truth. Now, I know I haven't won alot of matches, but I have progressed in the best ways." He stands up and begins to walk out to the parking lot of the park. The camera man follows and Dunn turns around and holds his hand out telling him to stop. The camera man stops and Dalton walks backwards towards his car. He hits the button to unlock it and shoves the keys back in his pocket. He turns around and walks to the trunk of his car while the camera man stays put. He closes the trunk with a brand new basketball in his hand. He jogs down to the court, hands the ball to one of the kids, and walks back to the camera man. Dunn smiles. "Like I said, Games are won in the off season, and it's the same thing in RCWF. In order to be the best you need to beat the best, and in order to beat the best you need to train with the best. And that's exactly what I am doing. So I warn everybody, from NextGen rookies like Chris Cryptic, Jay Willson, and Chris Crisis, to Veterens like John Kaos, Razor Sharp, and DJ Craft, never, ever, underestimate Dalton Dunn." The camera cuts off as Dalton Dunn turns around towards his car and opens up the drivers seat door. |
