In a pitch black room – 3:36 pm on Thursday April 19, 2012. “Where are we?” “Where are we? Welcome to Casa de la Dono! Now turn on the lights!” The lights in the room flicker on. The scene opens to a blank white wall with no decorations or anyone on the scene. “Umm, camera-guy, I’m over here.” The camera pans over to the right, where Donovan Pain can be seen waving at the camera. Behind him is a shelf with several of the same yellow objects. The objects are all exactly the same in colour, shape, size and cleanliness. All of them, all 30 rubber ducks, are identical. The wall is painted a dull yellow, the colour not being blinding to one’s eyes. The walls had a couple of posters, one being the Nowhere To Hide 2012 poster, and a couple of smaller rubber duck pictures. “So, today is the start of an adventure! Adventure to where you ask?” Taking in a deep breath, for dramatic effect, Donovan raises a finger as if making a point. “I DON’T KNOW!” Taking in another breath to calm down, Donovan points to the shelf behind him. Shooting a glance at the shelf himself, the RCWF resident rubber duck enthusiast has a rather serene look on his face. “Let’s start off with these fellas here!” Upon mentioning the rubber ducks, some of the backstage crew can be seen leaving the area. Donovan paid no attention to them, as the cameraman and, more importantly, the camera, remained in the vicinity. ”I’m going to introduce each one of them. We’ll start off from left to right. I won’t repeat myself, so pay careful attention. Ready. Set. Go.” Upon saying the word go, Donovan started spouting names at a breakneck pace. The only way to make some sense of what he said was to play the video in slow-motion, but even then it was somewhat difficult to make sense of what he said. Some of the names were audible, such as: Baby Duck(it didn’t look any different than the other rubber ducks), Sporty Duck, Scary Duck(who wasn’t really scary), Ginger Duck(it didn’t look like Sean Libby), Posh Duck, Pirate Duck(it was missing it’s eyepatch and bandana), Duck-Jahib(no comment), Duck 1, Duck 2, Duck 3, …, Duck 10, Duck 11. After he named each one, he then proceeded to describe each duck and how they interacted with other rubber ducks. 30 minutes later… ”Did you get all that?” “No.” Donovan didn’t even bother listening to the reply as he already moved on. He was seen walking out the door. Before he was completely out the door he shouted at the crew to follow. Just around the corner. The area consisted of a ball pit, but it wasn’t an ordinary ball pit. As expected of the rubber duck enthusiast, this ball pit was full of rubber ducks. Yes, rubber ducks. A rubber duck pit. The amount of rubber ducks, in the pit, could not be counted easily. It would either take someone who has too much time their hands, or someone who is super-duper smart at math and do some hoopla to figure it out. ”Well, now to introduce the rest of the crew!” Scene fades to black. ”Hey! Where are you going? I was told you would do an RCWF Cribs tour of my house today!” “We’ll get you next time, okay? ”Got it! End Episode 1 of the Chronicles of Donovan Pain |
