Samurai III was a late cut.

Edit: So was Jubal.

And you guys should really see The Silent World if you get a chance. It looks amazing and basically started the undersea film/TV documentary -- hence Jacques Cousteau's career. The treatment towards animals is not exactly ethical by today's standards, but this was filmed during a time where we didn't have the same understanding that we have today. Cousteau would become a staunch environmentalist after this and invested time and money in protecting the seas.

50t. Rodan (Conty #14)

Good stuff. For those that don't know, this is a Japanese monster movie (Rodan is a giant pterodactyl) made by GODZILLA director Ishiro Honda. It's nowhere near as serious as its spiritual predecessor but neither is it as goofy and ramshackle as the later GODZILLA sequels (into which Rodan would be admitted as a regular sidekick). If this kind of thing might be up your alley, I really recommend it: don't pass it over just because it doesn't have Godzilla in it.

Surprised that Ten Commandments missed the list. It may be campy and ridiculous, but it's so much fun and way ahead of its time with special effects. The parting of the red sea is pretty amazing even today.

21. Flowing (Russ #3, Maxime #4, Jiggy #15, Guy #17, vornporn #20)

I only had time for one of the two 1956 Naruse films to which I had access, and I picked the other one. Sorry, Flowing fans.

titles that I'd like to stand behind (even if they don't make the cut either) just to show my support. Especially my #1.

Yeah, well...dammit...you can't change my mind.

Hmmm, I had no idea a film was made out of Zola's L'assommoir; a book I love so much that I named my cat Gervaise!
