I only had time for one of the two 1956 Naruse films to which I had access, and I picked the other one. Sorry, Flowing fans.

I voted for both but had Sudden Rain ranked higher. Though I would note that I believe Flowing has the stronger critical support overall. Plus its got a female cast that even puts Street of Shame to, well, shame. Some even assert, wrongly, that Flowing is Naruse's last great film.

I know I've seen this but don't remember enough to rate it.

The image, however, reminds me of a toy I had as a kid...that I remember quite clearly:

Best toy ever.

We now return to the scheduled program.

Totally off-topic, so sue me. :)

Hey Dirt, remember the sisters/female cousins with their EZ Bake ovens?

We did 'em one better. They could make their own cookies? We could make our own toys!!

Join me in my little boy geekdom (and I'll be amazed if you didn't have one of these) as I use the Wayback Machine to revisit this classic...
