Aaron, whenever Criterion finally decides to get around to releasing Yang's A Brighter Summer Day, I know you'll be all over it. Is it even on Hulu yet?

Nope. I don't know why they are taking so long, but yeah, I can't wait for that one. I love Yi Yi so much and plan to revisit it in a few weeks.

Edit: Some people think it'll be part of a Scorsese's World Cinema Foundation Set, Volume 2. The last one was released December 2013, so this one could be December 2015.

After all.....
I almost chose Duck Amuck over Duck Dodgers in the 24 1/2 Century because it is absolutely brilliant but Daffy was a pawn of Bugs in Amuck... and the disintegrating gun in Dodgers is pure comedy platinum.

I re-watched another film last night for the zillionth time and one character would easily make another list (or this one if I could figure out who it would bump). I dug into the credits a bit because I love the original music and, probably no surprise, it was from Maurice Jarre. I could easily do another list, an eclectic list, of just characters from films that he was involved with. Films where music greatly enhances the tone of the character. That dude was genius. I won't mention the character I was thinking because maybe, just maybe, he/she will show up here later.

I actually didn't put that much thought into which title I'd name, because I knew I'd be adding a "+" afterward, per Russ's instructions about characters who appear in multiple films. But you make a good point.

Yeah, i spent a lot (as in, a LOT) of time on certain anal things. I don't think it will show up later so I'll mention that I almost teamed up Daffy with Donald for the piano duel in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?". My favorite segment. Daffy was at his very old school daffiest but...it wasn't Mel Blanc (I think it was his son) and, well...I love Duck Dodgers. Would have made a good quote though

Daffy Duck: Thith ith the latht time I work with thomeone with a th-peech impediment.

I could also have made a list of 20 animated characters. I'm hoping a couple that I've bumped show up later.

Yancy, to the film's credit (and that scene in particular), I can't think of a single other character that I could have gotten away with showing them from behind.

Kudos to Dr. Strangelove, The Dude and Big Fish.

In hindsight, I probably should have picked both characters for Persona because of the intertwined rule. I cannot think of two characters in film that are more intertwined than Alma and Elizabet.

Unfortunately, my friend, that's not the character I chose. Maybe I should've expected the confusion, since the actor playing the actor named Ruggles doesn't play the character named Ruggles.

That pic and quote are the character Marmaduke Ruggles played by Charles Laughton. I chose the character Egbert Floud played by Charles Ruggles.

Feel free to let your head explode. :)

:)

I might have picked a couple of other characters from this film but this is awesome. The best probable chance for a bump in my final list (though Augie 2 is another contender).

EDIT: "Augie 2"...good lord...I wish I could see again.I meant Audrey
