We're connected six degrees of separation-style in real life then. One of my friends recently worked as the BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM director's PA before moving off to do her own thing. Small world.
:fresh: It's good fun reading this. I'm very surprised at just how many films I haven't heard of though! |

Look. In my opinion, this is pretty powerful stuff. Though your spelling is Neanderthal and your reasoning a little naive, your instincts are profound. But the whole thing needs to be given a more cohesive shape. It can be expanded, followed through, unified. Do you see what I'm getting at? Are you willing to commit yourself to this? To really work on it? To give it its due in the face of adversity and discouragement? To rise to the challenge you yourself have set? And don't give me that wonderstruck "I'm only a humble garbage man" bullshit, either." Simon: "It hurts to breathe." Henry Fool: "Of course it does." Nominated by Karim |

Travis Bickle was one of those ones that felt…obvious? Almost boring? But in the end, I couldn't discount him simply because he's SO well known…he's that for a reason. An all time great character. |

Thanks for quoting the "I'm a humble garbage man" bit from Henry Fool. I noticed that Maxime recently watched it and rated it PRO. :) On a somewhat related note, I named my now-departed tuxedo cat Simon after Simon Baker--The Guardian was my favorite television show at the time[/i]--but also in honor of two of my favorite Simons in film, Simon (Greg Kinnear) in As Good As It Gets and Simon Grim in Henry Fool. |

I'll finish this up tomorrow night and then let everyone catch up with the new yearly consensus poll, while we catch our collective breath and get ready for the hard part - the ranking. You know, thinking of Elaine recently had me wondering what kind of list she would have submitted. Somewhere, there's a Rhoda Penmark waiting her turn. I bet Elaine would have had fun with this. |

I thought that she might have voted for Novalyne Price since I know that she loved The Whole Wide World as much as I did. Thanks again, for putting this together, Russ. You are awesome. :fresh: |

I know he won't get a lot of support but I will stand firm, on my final list, with my support of Friedrich von Ledebur as Queequeg. Skip a literal conversion of book to film and his character just pulls the whole cinematic story together. And as Ishmael would say: Better sleep with a sober cannibal than a drunken Christian. One of my lack-of-addition regrets... Linda Hunt as Billy Kwan in The Year Of Living Dangerously ... l love this movie, on many different levels, but Billy Kwan spoke volumes. Posted Image |
